South West Coast Path Challenge 2021

South West Coast Path Challenge featuring Alex Ledger and George Bullard, discover how SkySchool’s team got on on this wonderful challenge for our charity.

South West Coast Path Challenge

In June and July 2021 SkySchool MD Alex Ledger and Adventurer George Bullard ran the South West Coast Path, England's longest National Trail. They completed the 630 mile route in just over a month, starting in Minehead, Somerset on 10th June and finishing in Poole Harbour, Dorset on the 17th of July.

They were supported en route by a team of SkySchool students, all of whom met through paramotoring. SkySchool drove the campervan and Land Rover with a trailer packed full of paramotors and other adventure sports equipment. This allowed them to take advantage of favourable weather conditions to fly as much as possible. They managed to raise more than £15,000 for three different charities. Alex chose to raise funds for Friends of Cornwall SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity. George chose to raise funds for the Brains Trust in support of a close friend suffering from brain cancer. We also raised funds for the SWCP Association, which looks after the trail.

It was an amazing, once in a lifetime experience. All the more memorable by the huge amount of support the team received along the trail, especially from ex SkySchool students who came to fly and run with us. We were fortunate enough to have the fantastic media services of Oscar Manville-Hales of Farr Films. Watch the four episodes below to see how the adventure unfolded!
